Firefox2 image-blocking routine. I invoked it but can't turn it off.

Within bwilmot's post about nepenthe0's annoying Roadrunner Cartoons, cmiller5400 mentioned the concept of blocking the images from Photobucket.

I found the desired listing within the Firefox2 right click menu - and removed ALL trace of Roadrunner & Wile E. Coyote. Then it dawned on me that I wouldn't be able to see any of the much-vaunted comic pictures as featured in the Friday Yuk, so went off to disable the said routine.

But I can't find it !!

It's not in the right-hand-click menu, it's not in the Add-Ons dialogue box, it's nowhere in the Toolbars.

Anyone know how I can enjoy the Friday Yuk and just utilize the block for reading illustrated tech posts??

So, what fixed it?

Sorry - I thought the Thumbs were an indication ...

Both dawgit and dmiles Said essentially the same thing - they both solved it.

Tools > Options > Content [TAB] > 'Load images automatically'-'Exceptions' [Button] - remove the listing for Photobucket.

Y'see I didn't do THAT to block the images, I just clicked on an option in the right-click drop-down menu - so like the old duffer that I am, I was expecting the 'disable routine' option to remain in the drop-down menu.

Silly Old Mycroft !!

And now that Sherlock has turned up on TR, things can only get worse!!!

Why haven't...

Why haven't you update/upgrade to Firefox v3. I would figure an IT person would have updated the day it came out.

In other words, it's all in actually 'knowing' what comes AFTER you've done something - rather than blindly jumping straight in like all the other 8 Million Muppets that downloaded Firefox3 on Day One.

On the subject of "I would figure an IT person would have updated the day it came out." ~ I have no reason to update.

Just as I have yet to do anything with the 540MB ISO of Service Pack 3 which is currently occupying space in one of my Downloads directories. I'd rather be one of the avid readers of SP3 problems around the world, than one of the victims. The same goes for Firefox3.

Anyway, from what I can see on the Mozilla site, at least half of my Firefox Add-Ons have yet to be updated for Firefox3 so by 'updating' as you so blindly described it, I would in fact be crippling a splendid Browser that I have nurtured and customized to my particular preferences.

THAT is what separates the IT person from the average user.

Thanks for the clarification :)

I always thought that it was the average user that rushed into these things but I was never sure. Maybe that is why I keep having to install software to work out other peoples problems with it. :)

Was a great book from the 70's (darn ! - did I just admit that ?).

Quotation of note:

If it ain't broke - Don't fix it.
