Is this an attempt at Google to 'control everything'?

I can see this being a big flop, (like the iPad) it is years too late into the race, and probably won't catch up.

what are your thoughts?

Since I don't use Facebook or Twitter, or any other Google services, and we just renewed our Sharepoint license, it's moot to me.

I think it's a bit early to call the iPad a flop, since it hasn't been released yet. I don't think it's anything special or new, but that doesn't mean it won't sell.
