google chrome downloads

By cifill ·
I have been trying to download Google Chrome but although the download seems successful I am unable to open it. I keep getting a message: This download has been blocked by your Security Zone Policy.

I am 74 and no expert I have tried changing the settings on IE6 but to no avail. FireFox 3 does not respond either.Could anyone please help?

Chrome is very much experimental ...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to google chrome downloads

And as such, any glitches are unfortunately to be expected.

Given that Google erased the entire cache of the first launch site, they are obviously aware of the problems in launching this new browser.

I would advise you wait a few days (weeks) until some of the initial bugs have been tracked down and eradicated.

Out of curiosity I downloaded and installed Chrome ...

Interestingly, during installation it made several calls that aggravated my firewall, and then unceremoniously crashed right before the end of the install.

Running it produces a lockup of the application with an apologetic dialogue box and a little smiley (?) saying 'something' went wrong.

I foresee weeks of cries for help on this one.

What joke was that

by ComputerCookie In reply to Your gamer than Ned Kelly ...

I got a link from SMH newletter today(no links from the online newspaper article yesterday, no link from google either)!

Seemed to install OK however it didn't import favorites as it said it would so I closed it, re-opened it and it was still the same so leave it till I feel like bothering about it.

It is a BETA so!

Can you download other files?

by seanferd In reply to google chrome downloads

Your system settings, firewall, or program guard software may be disallowing the download. Can you tell what program is giving you the "blocked" message?

Were you able to download the installation stub file? Are you getting the error while running that?

Or can't you download the small setup stub file at all?

Chrome is not for commercial use

by Kenone In reply to google chrome downloads

The EULA states that anything that you pass through Chrome you license Google to use for almost any thing. You also attest that you have the authority to assign such license. Not true for most employees and students.

Security Zone Policy.....

Open IE, go to tools, last option internet options, second tab is Security, and you can adjust your security zone policy there.... Hopefully this helps.
