Google Chrome syncing search history

While at work I occasionally sign into my private gmail account - on my work laptop - of which I sometimes forget to sign out of. I had left my gmail account signed into at work, and can't recall for how long it was left on. The other day - and much to my concern - I was doing my work and came across a whole lot of of my search history from my own personal computer. A few of my searches - some of which are absolutely not safe for work - were appearing on my browser at work even though I didn't physically search any of these items through my work computer. I then discovered that Google Chrome can sync your search history across multiple devices. I am now 100 per cent paranoid that the IT department has seen this history, or worse yet, that when Google Chrome has synced my personal searches with my work computer that it has sent out flags to them and they have seen all my private searches or I have since deleted all my search history, and signed out of chrome and been extremely cautious about signing into my personal gmail account.
My question, to anyone who can hopefully put my mind at ease is, would chrome syncing my search history be flagged to the IT department. Or am I OK considering I never search anything on my work laptop? Or are there any other concerns that I should have? I really appreciate any assistance anyone can provide.
