Google earth live?

By Snuffy09 ·
Is there a live version of google earth? Or a program like it, that refershes its images more than every 5 years?

My dads house is in a less popular location (not DC or New york city) so the images are very old. I would like to get a recent pic of his land for him.

I tried Microsoft maps but i cannot view his land via "birds eye" and the other image is as old as google's.

there is a guy that had a plane in the area, he would fly over peoples houses, take pictures, and bring them to your door and try and sell them to you. we did buy one, that was many years ago tho.

The local Council most take Aerial Photos of their area of control to check up on things and so on.

They tend to do this on a semi regular basis so they have fairly recent photos available to look at.

Didn't you see that episode of the Simpsons?

Marge 'googles herself' for the first time (since she previously thought it was "the other thing")

She zooms in on her house,
and sees Homer lying nekid on the hammock in the back yard. It shows ON-SCREEN the bird's eye view as she's chasing him around and yelling.

Try your state government offices....

Some departments such as the Bureau of Lands, Fish and Wildlife, Water Resources, etc..., have mapping software on their web sites and some of them might have more recent flyovers. Even though a 5 year refresh is pretty standard, you might catch one of them with newer images and they haven't sold them to Google Earth yet.

I think only those of us who have done individual pixel editing and actually seen those 'dead pixels' close up can appreciate the 'art' of that photo!
