google imap problem

By tintor23 ·
I have set up half a dozen domains with google apps and use them through outlook with imap.

Today I couldn't get it working at a clients office, even though I did everything exactly as previous occasions. I tried multiple pcs on their network.

Can it be that the ISP (Netspeed) is blocking SSL port 993, or could it be the (very) old dsl gateway (a 3com) not 'supporting' this sort of traffic. The gateway doesn't even have options for portforwarding. Anyone had problems with this?

Does the 'Test Settings' pass or fail?

Can you ping and resolve imap and smtp servers from clients?

Outlook 2003 or 2007 clients?

Is there some connection logging in outlook to see where it's failing??

can't ping or resolve

I don't think outlook has a log for this.

The 'test account' also fails on all but one of the tests.

I can connect to non-ssl SMTP servers.
