Google toolbar or google desktop IP performance issues

By ws3d ·
Has anyone noticed any Ethernet performance issues related to Google Desktop or Google Desktop? In an effort to give our some useful free apps, we have been installing Google Toolbar. One of our sites (connected to us via a T1) has been having some performance issues after a move from the core. We expected some differences in performance but I uninstalled Toolbar from one of the users PC and it seems to have helped. Has anyone else seen anything similar?

Terrible Toolbars...

by mjworsdale In reply to Google toolbar or google ...

I have over 400 workstations to administrate and a good deal of my time is spent uninstalling free toolbars that users have downloaded. It's all the use of the toolbar addins that seems to impact on the network. Best practice I have found is to keep the desktops as plain and simple as pos and locked down as much as pos through a good group policy.

I was beginning to think that

That makes sense. I guess it was hard to make a call because the site having trouble only uses about 15 PCs. I was hoping someone with a larger site (like the 400 you mention) could shed a little light on it. What may only seem like trouble with a small number of users can be quite obvious with many users. Thanks.
