While I was using my computer and browsing online, an alert from my firewall showed that there was a HackTool.Win32.vb.gz virus. I looked for the path/location where the infected file was located but there was no such file. I have scanned my pc using AVG and Spybot SD but they were not able to detect the said virus. What is this? What should I do?

Your firewall?

by Toivo Talikka In reply to Hacktool.win32.vb.gz

Perhaps the message did not come from your firewall. It should have come from your anti-virus application. Maybe by the time you went and had a look at the folder, the infected files had already been removed by your anti-virus application.

Here is a link to's instructions how to remove the virus manually:

My firewall's anti-virus alert

by flores_dariusf In reply to Your firewall?

The alert came from my firewall, it also has an anti-virus feature. I'm using ZoneAlarm Security Suite. It is shown in the log/alert file that the quarantine failed and file repair failed. I did what was said on the link you gave but I could'nt find the files that must be deleted. what is hacktool.win32.vb.gz? Will it damage my system and how?
