Just caught the Scoreboard for this week, and realised you hadn't had a Birthday thread posted, so I started one for you!

Enjoy your TacoBell birthday lunch - and I hope Darryl is taking you out for dinner tonight, too!

have a wonderful day, Lee

No Lobster?

by JamesRL In reply to HAPPY PURPLE BIRTHDAY!

I know the season varies a bit, but if it were me, I'd be going for lobster.

We havent' gone to Taco Bell for a while, we make better Mexican at home. Our local grocery has the "real" Herdez products from Mexico, so no Pace or Old el paso for us.

Oh and happy Birthday, what are you now, 29?

Our lobster season ends June 30....

by Darryl~ Moderator In reply to No Lobster?

but that's just our area, there are other areas open but we no longer see the "lobster trucks" parked around town selling live lobster....I'd have to go buy them at the local grocery store or make a couple hour's drive to go get some.

So we usually do lobster for Mother's Day & Father's Day.....then in Nov & Dec we start seeing the "trucks" from the South Shore up here selling them so we manager to grab a few for New Year's or something.

It's scallop season here now but I haven't seen any around....she really like scallops! I'll have to see if I can locate some for her

My wife prefers scallops

by JamesRL In reply to Our lobster season ends J ...

We have a family story about them actually.

My father in law was a bit of a gourmet, and one visit, he prepared Coquille St. Jaques, including the authentic scallop shells.

My youngest isn't very fussy and loves seafood like the rest, but for whatever reason wasn't interested in her portion. The rest of us had wolfed down our shares, and we all hungrily looked at her portion, and at each other and back at her portion. It was a little like playing Texas Hold 'em.

So we now have an expression in our family about seeing who gets to scavenge off of someone's plate - are you going to "Coquille St Jaques"?

That's a good one!! LOL....

My sister makes really good bacon wrapped scallops...we all get together Dec 26th....it's always a scramble trying to get to them before they're all gone! She makes stuffed mushrooms to go with them....yum!

Lobster is more a Mother's Day thing like Darryl was saying...and he always gets, and cooks, it for me and my mom :) Darryl makes really good tacos too but we don't have a lot of mexican type products up here so they're not quite as good as yours would be....but i have no doubt they would be way better than TB too

Edit: and oh, it's 19 although 29 wouldn't be so bad too !

Shrimp.

by CharlieSpencer In reply to No Lobster?

My father sautes them in butter with chili powder, cumin, and garlic. Then we peel and eat them, and lick the dripping spiced butter off our fingers.
