Harrison Ford as cubicle jockey!? I can't fuckin believe it!

By jkameleon ·
There was a lot of bellyaching lately about kids refusing to study tech & IT. One of the remedies proposed was "improving the image of tech professionals", "improving the image of tech profession", etc.

There were also ideas about entertainment industry giving the kids role models other than cops, lawyers, sport stars, and bath attendants. Well, it looks like this is it

Stupid.

Who needs an engineer, supposedly a rational creature, who decided for his career irrationally, because of some stupid Holywood crap?

Good old Fred, RIP

I imagine he was talking down a pilot testing that new flubber-powered aircraft, the FB-Model T. Wasn't very stealthy, payload consisted mostly of pilot and a passenger, and maybe a couple of bags of groceries. Offensive armament consisted of various fruits and vegetables, possible a dozen or so eggs dropped from altitude. Defensive armor was very light consisting of floorboards and a windshield. Advanced electronics though, could receive more than one AM radio station.

"IT" is a codeword - it means deskilling

by nrmullins In reply to Harrison Ford as cubicle ...

the whole point of encouraging people to study "IT" is to ensure that there is an oversupply of people. According to the laws of economics, if there is an oversupply the rate of payment will drop exponentially.

in the same way, government policy encouraging people to breed is meant to ensure a supply of ill-educated people as factory fodder
