the race incident did make the news.

it's to bad.
At least they are smart enough to know it was just an accident. Doesn't make your friend's injuries any less, or reverse the death of the horse though.
I hope your friend heals up quickly.

He is recovering well

At least as I hear from hastings anyway. I've seen horse crashes several times before, mostly at Fraser with the harness racing. It is a sad reality of racing that horses do have to be put down when severely injured, however this was just a complete fluke of madness. Not rider error, equipment failure etc.

I've bet on Mambo's bloodline many times, great horses. Somehow there's almost a sense of relief that she couldn't see and was killed instantly on impact.

In the race replay you can hear but not see the accident, thankfully. I was standing about 20 feet from Dave (Security) when he was knocked through the glass panels of winner's circle . The smashing glass is Dave and I was one of the audible gasps. (http://www.hastingspark.com/racing/replays/2010/jul31.aspx)

Haunting.

I like beting the bloodline too, Mambo's have brought in some big wins for me.

No

They stay clear of the track, they know what's best for them. They turn out in VERY small numbers during the PNE if there are rodeos but that's about it.
