Yes, over a year ago when some idiot killed themselves by planking

      by deadly ernest ·

In reply to Hear about planking?

on the rail of balcony about ten metres above the cement driveway. They moved an arm to cratch an itch and fell off. About two weeks later another got killed by planking on the double handwidth wide rail of a footway on a bridge, a passingsemi truck caused enough wind to blow them off the rail and they fell to their death. Last I heard planhing has resulted in a twnety or so deaths due to them picking idiotic places.

Second attempt to post since the first hit a snag of some sort and didn’t show as being posted.

Yeah, dummies have done it for about 10 years now.

It is said to be taken from the laying down game that two tourists used to spice up their photos one year. It takes a real plank to plank though.

It’s about the Planck sat images! Clickety-click.

          You said planking! Not planck

          by aidemzo_adanac ·

In reply to i read it

Planking is the act of laying flat.

          Planck is a space observatory.

When you asked about planking, there was no need for a link,m I understand planking. If you had said planck chromascopes, I would have looked into the link.

          I don’t know about obvious

But if I said there was an article on cars and meant caps, I think it might need a little more explanation.

Now, plancking I might have taken as a typo, but I probably would have checked the link just in case it was something cool that I didn’t know about, suck as a space observatory. :p

The link is pretty cool actually, now I know about planking AND plancking! What a great day indeed!

the braindead high school and college kids have been practicing this sport they call ‘planking’ where they find a place and then lay there dead still. At first it was things like lying down in the middle of a footpath or hall, then progressed to doing this on tables, between chairs, in counters, advanced to car bonnets, car bonnets while the car is moving, to balcony rails and side of buildings and bridge side rails. Whilst in position they have someone take a picture of them then post it on some social media, the latest is to have a YouTube video of them getting into position in some hard to reach place.

They score points in some way for the location and danger – I suppose they’re all trying to outstupid each other. Many have died by doing this in the wrong place, some have ben hit by trains, fallen off moving vehicles, run over by vehicles, fallen off balconies on higher floors of buildings, fallen off bridges, and fallen off roofs etc.

It’s just a page from a google search, office friendly and nothing dangerous, just a bunch of knobs being planks.
          https://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&gs_rn=12&gs_ri=psy-ab&cp=6&gs_id=m&xhr=t&q=planking&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.45960087,d.cGE&biw=1440&bih=785&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=Ue6HUeXiGuj2iwLu8YFw

Or search Google for planking and select images,

and I’m even more serious when I opine that some people seriously need to get lives.

Geez, is this what kids moved to when AT&T took down all the phone booths we used to pack into? What happened to cow tipping and shrink wrapping the toilet bowl? These sound like future Darwin Award recipients. Nothing like dumping in some chlorine while you’re still in the gene pool.

          Oh yes

          by aidemzo_adanac ·

In reply to Yes, I was serious,

Don’t get me wrong, I honestly don’t think it’s cool. The story of it’s origina was interesting. Two college kids on vacation wanted something besides the typical photos of each other simply standing in front of landmarks. They decided to lay prone with hands at their sides instead. Personally I can’t stand it when people have to all take turns standing in front of something they traveled 2000 kms to see.
I don’t need to see my friend’s on vacation, I’m interested in what they saw. One friend says, ‘that’s so you can remember being there’
That kills me, I don’t need a photo of me standing in front of something to show i was there, I have a freaking photo of it, why do I need to be there too? Just in case someone doesn’t believe me? So what? I was in Stanley Park on the weekend with a friend, having a beer and waiting for the 9 o’clock gun (cannon) to go off. As we sat on the grass bank about 10 feet away, a tour bus of Asians pulled up. They all piled off the bus, took turns standing in front of the cannon, not even knowing what it was for, took their pictures and got back on the bus, which drove away just as the cannon fired.
I just don’t get it! You came from Japan, China or wherever, the bus stopped so you could see an old Vancouver landmark, which fires once a day at 9PM precisely, take a picture in front of it and don’t stay the extra 2 minutes to find out what it is about. Completely mindless.

Okay, so planking was a bit of a goofy idea by a couple of college kids, not such an issue. For it to turn into a craze is a bit revealing of the low mentality set for our future.

People laugh about hippies and stoners, not realizing that they were the people who also shaped the modern world. Wozniac, Jobs and Gates were all hippies with wild ideas; Jobs was even a heavy LSD user at one time. Did the war on drugs actually have an impact on society after all? Perhaps all the college kids just aren’t as ‘out of this world’ creative anymore.

Say yes to drugs, it’s the future of the world!
Correction: Say yes to GOOD drugs, it’s the future of the world. 😀

Young people of today have invented very little that has comparatively changed the world. They can’t even create music anymore, it’s just the prepackaged junk from labels. It’s a “processed cheese” music market, quality gone for quantity. Today’s kids are so devoid of creativity, they are turning to clothes and styles worn 30 years ago, they listen to music created 30+ years ago, retro is cool! It’s just too bad nobody has an identity of their own anymore.

It drove up the price of illicit drugs making it virtually a necessity to become a criminal to support their habits. The harder they try to eradicate it, the worse things get.

In reply to ” Did the war on drugs actually have an impact on society after all?”

the lost revenue from products that could have been taxed if they were legal, instead of being costing the government money to prohibit.

Mind you, I’m not in favor OR opposed to legalizing so-called recreational drugs. What I am opposed to is the hypocrisy that declares pot and cocaine illegal while allowing tobacco and alcohol to be sold legally with relatively minor restrictions.

          The amount of taxes…

In reply to ” Did the war on drugs actually have an impact on society after all?”

that the US Government could have collected for the past 45 years on recreational drugs sales would have kept our country out of debt and funded the rehabs for those with addiction problems.

          Oh well…hindsight is 20/20

In reply to ” Did the war on drugs actually have an impact on society after all?”

I’m not particularly concerned with those particular ‘human resources’. While I don’t agree with current drug laws, I suspect most of those people would be drains on society regardless of the circumstances that put them in jail. If they weren’t looking for fast, ‘easy’ money in the drug, they’d be looking for it in other illegal activities. The bar is set too low on most ‘three strkes’ laws, but just having two strikes already tells you a lot about these ‘resources’.

It’s not that, it’s just we lose all interest when there’s a link

      by deadly ernest ·

In reply to Hear about planking?

in the main body and no lengthy explaination, so we see it as either a spam or a lazy post about a new article and if you aren’t interested enough to give a summary for those who may not be able to get to the article quickly, then it can’t be that interesting.

Many people link to news articles forgetting that many you can’t get to see them unless you go to the trouble be register with the organisation and log on (too much hassle for one or two articles), and that many get archived after a few days and can only be seen by those with an account.
