By jattinmoodalways ·
Hey guys,
I was wondering if someone can help me out as my problem driving me insane.. I'm running Windows Xp Pro. I just installed a cdrw (it's a generic brand called Cicero but it shows up as LITE-ON LTR 24102B, 24X10X40). Xp suppose to recognizeit when I installed but it didn't but after playin with for a while I figured out a way to make it management and highlighted device manager and rite clicked FOR SCAN for new hardware changes and it appeared as LITE-ON LTR 24102B cdrw (it also appears>>> device manager>>rite click>>scan for new hardware changes) so i thought it started working but when I restarted my pc it disappeared. So everytime i need to burn a cd I have to do the device manager thing to make it work! I even tried regedit.exe
HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}In the right pane highlited and deleted LowerFilters and rebooted and reinstlled nero 5 and 5.5.1 and applied the Xp update patch still same problem. MY pc info HP Pavilion 8595c 733 mhz 640 ram 2HDZ Sony dvd10x CiCERO CDRW24X10X40(LITE-ON LTR 24102B). I will really really appreciate your help guys pleaseeeeeeeeee help me before I go insaneeeeeeee.....IF you need more info please feel free to email me @ or With my cdrw i got NERO 5 CD.
Thank you kindly,

p.s Xp recognizes the cdrw in safe mode but in normal mode once i add via device manager it disappears after reboot!

I have tried the same thing,, same cdrw. Windows xp home though. The problem I run into is that if you use the cdrw as a rom, it works fine. Once you burn to the cd, it quits working as a cdrom only a cdburner,, cant read any data cd's, or music cd's. It only will recognize it as a burning drive.
In order for me to use it I have to do one of the following:
Go to start, help&support, then restore to where I was before i burned, or turn the pc off and on.
I did run the HCL, and looked for a more suitable driver. But to no avail. I went to the company's web site and only found drivers for previous O/S's. Or a DOS driver.
Windows update, doesn't have a suitable driver for it either.
I am currently using the Win2000 driver, as it worked, as opposed to the 9x drivers.
I think we have to wait untill a new driver is made to use it fully.

The best advice I can give you is to back up your data, wipe the drive, and install W2K Pro.
