Hide a network folder

By bklos63 ·
I have been looking all over for some way to hide a network folder but also allow several people to be able access it with a password. I don't want to encrypt, hiding a share is not good enough. This is highly sensitive information that only a few people can have access to and even network admins can't get to. Anybody????

What OS?

If W2k or W2k3, You really can't "hide" the folder, only make it inaccessible. Just remove the administrators group from the security tab, and add only the groups/people that need access. Just remember, that as administrators, there are ways to get at the data if you have a rogue admin that wants to see it.

In Novell land, you can not block the supervisor right on the file system, only on eDirectory, so you would need to add a server in the tree, that is in a different OU and then filter/set the supervisor rights on the OU. Just remember that you need to have at least one account that has supervisory access to the OU to administer it (probably the Admin account, because you should not be using that regularly anyway)
