How can I make this CD/RW work?
Everytime I reboot a message pops up stating.
Your CD recording divice drivers has been disable as it will cause windows to become unstable.
Or something much like that.

It's a Samsung SC-148 DVD/CD-ROM.
It will play CD & DVD with no problems, but it will not let me make any copies.

Like pictures I have and want to make copies for my family.

Keeps telling there is no CD in.

I am running Win XP-Pro.
I have ask Micro for help but they won't.
Said my copy of Win XP is prirate copy.
They want me buy another copy. HA

Been to Samsung site for drivers and all they give me is instructions for installing a new one?

Have try removing it from device manager but windows puts it back when I reboot with the same old message.

How can I get this thing to allow me to make copies of things?

Hope someone can help me fix this thing?
There has got to be a way to disable the disabler.

Thanking you in advance.

PS Ya I know this should be in the questions
had it there for 3 days now and no answers yet.

remove from system

so you have already tried to remove the drivers from the device manager and on reboot it replaces them.

how about go into the BIOS disable the drive, boot into windows and remove any drives that may be causing the issue. reboot, go back into the BIOS and enable the drive.

when windows boots it will find new hardware and want to search for a driver, let it download a xp generic driver then reboot and see if that worked.

also if you can, remove the drive from the system and install another one, boot the system and see if it still brings up an error.

i have replaced many CD/DVD drives because they have had internal errors such as not reading CD's but read DVD's and some that burn CD's but wont burn DVD's and visa versa

Driver Check

by syst3m.admin1strator In reply to remove from system

I should have mentioned this in my last post but another thing that you can do is to run a check on your drivers to verify if you have any unsigned drivers that may be causing problems what you need to do is:

Got to start then run and type sigverf this will scan your drivers and tell you what ones installed arn't signed.
