How good are we at spotting spyware?

By stargazerr ·
According to a test conducted by SiteAdvisor, a staggering 97% of internet users cannot effectively detect spyware and put their PCs at risk, reports slashdot.

Here is a test to see how good you are at spotting potential risks. I got a score of 7 out of 8.

You call that crap "enticing"?

by Absolutely In reply to Issues with the concept.. ...

I treat downloads the same way, I just don't consider them enticing!

I took the entire test, mainly guessing that the "unsafe" choice would be the one with the more amateurish, imbecilic animation. Of the first four, I only missed the song lyric site. And on the last question, I marked e-mule unsafe, although site advisors claim it is safe. I guess they only downloaded the e-mule client, but never used it for file sharing!

Well, according to

by Old Guy In reply to How good are we at spotti ...

the site I got 5 out of 8 also. However, on the file sharing I mark all as bad so I actually got a 6 out of 8. Also, in agreement with gralfus, I wouldn't use any of the downloads and do my best not to let anyone on the network download anything either. I don't think any of those "features" should be on a network.

So does that give me better than a tightrope? B-)

good prod but flawed survey

by Dr Dij In reply to How good are we at spotti ...

they didn't put an answer 'I wouldn't download from this site'.

many people avoid screen savers.
you can't tell from a webstie front page if it has spyware.

siteadvisor is good product, I use it but the survey is idiotic and pointless.

Is all of that spy ware really doing us good?
It seems that I still get tons of viruses all the time even when i use it.
