HOW HOT IS HOT

Hi,

I know how you *feel* re the temperature! I recently moved from Intel to AMD and was shocked at the temperature my 1.4GHz Thunderbird reached.

Even now, with 3 case fans and a good quality heatsink, it still sits at around 55 degC (or 130degF) and gets as high as 67 degC (or 150degF) but I've never had a lockup that I'd say was caused by heat.

I was uneasy about it until I went to the following site with the following article...

http://www.overclockers.com/tips400/

If you're getting lockups, I'd say it'd be unlikely to be due to temperature. Not impossible, just very unlikely.

Cheers,
Tim.

It is important to consider the proper air flow for AMD systems is from the front to rear, and the number of fans is not nearly important as having the correct air flow. The air should enter the case from the front/bottom of case, run across the board/chip and exit out the rear/mid/top of a standard mid tower computer
For air cooling diagrams for AMD systems and case configurations - go to http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_tech_docs/cooling_guide.pdf
