How to fnd content on TR ~ quick guide ~

By Jaqui ·
Since so many dimwits don't use the tags right the search feature that uses the tags is useless.

About the only truly effective means of finding content of interest is in finding members who participate in discussions on topics you are interested in, and add them to your contacts list.

lord knows doing a search for linux in the tags throws more results about windows problems than about linux, because of idiots not using tags appropriately. like, what does some problem with outlook have to do with linux? outlook is windows only people, as are 90% of the content tagged with linux.

very few with both windows and linux are ever going to be tagged right, since very few connections exist between the two operating systems.

Additionally,

I've found it impossible to duplicate tags from an article consistently, because i hit a limit in additional tags that the bloggers don't have.

Sometimes it is easy to trim them a bit, because they can be awfully repetitive at times. I like to make sure the writer's name is in the tags, but frequently, there just isn't room.

Then again, we have discussed in the past, and I think Palmetto had brought it up again recently, the idea that articles should automatically have a starter thread, or the author/editor should do it.
