How to remove Unknow undectable viruses

By tripplec ·
How can a system be scanned using a current signature database. Problem encounter was installed McAfee was disbled by the virus, attempts to install a new NAV 2003 or 2004 installation and update were not possible. The unknown virus diabled the LiveUpdate on all versions and attempts. No component would launch, or allow registration to proceed. IE 6 online scanning was disabled. Scan prior to install of NAV 2004 uses very old files and detects nothing and now way known to create an updated CD with the latest signatur files on it.
Any idea's for the furture cases?

First of all try scans and installing new AV Software from Safe-Mode (with networking). It is possible that in safe mode your virus isn't active and that you can start the Software. If you have networking on you should be able to get the newest definitions from the internet. If that doesn't work, you will probably have to get hold of a Linux Bootable CD, like Knoppix (www.knoppix.com). With knoppix you should be able to get read/write access to your ntfs patitions and so you should also be able to use a linux antivirus program to scan and clean your disk.

another possibility is to remove your disk from your infected PC, jumper it to be slave and put it into a PC which you know is virus clean and has an up-to-date AV Program. You can then clean the infected disk and after that put it back into the original PC.

i see all the above answers and agree with them all try all of these answers provided to you. however i just have to give a little criticism to answer 6 remove the disk and put it into a pc which has a up to date avp and is not effected lmao.... anything that gets infected will remain on the HDD does'nt matter wether you move it to another pc or not you are just moving the infected HDD to another pc unless there is a newer virus definition that houses itself to another case, if so i aint seen it on the discovery channel yet lmao

and as for this generate it as slave drive the current os will not read this drive as the CID's from the other pc is stored within the HDD.
