How to Rip Blu-ray Disc to MP4!

By CharlieSpencer ·
We see a lot of spam on this subject. Speaking as someone who doesn't watch movies, why would one want to do this? What are the advantages? Why does it take special (probably virus-riddled) software to do it?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Once pushed

by santeewelding In reply to My turn

The Power That Is comes as though from out of the sky, making you into a Disappeared One.

I can't tell you more than that, except, once on the Other Side, there is no more communication. Those who remain can but clasp their hands and wonder if you are in a better place.

nwallette, welcome to TR.

In the upper right of each post is a link labeled "Mark as Spam", aka "The button". Clicking it sends a message to the site administrators requesting they review the indicated post for offensive content. There's an unofficial competition between some members to see who can be first to flag a spam message, or to flag the most each week. Catching a major spammer is considered laudable in this crowd.

Uh.. you're welcome?

So, my thanks for answering your questions is to have my post marked as spam?

What exactly am I purportedly selling? I intended to write the message for free. If I'm supposedly collecting compensation for it somehow, that's quite news to me.

You may have misunderstood my question.

by CharlieSpencer In reply to Uh.. you're welcome?

I wasn't seeking assistance.

We see dozens of spam each week with titles similar to the one I used. They're unsolicited ads for file conversion software of questionably functionality and legality. Your detailed reply looks a lot like those messages.

I don't think that's true...

Your questions:

> why would one want to do this?

I gave examples. Portability. Play-anywhere.

> What are the advantages?

See above.

> Why does it take special (probably virus-riddled) software to do it?

I provided a list of tools and their purposes. None of them are virus-riddled, the majority are free. The only one that costs anything (which I have ZERO financial interest in, BTW) is simply the best tool for the job, and not terribly expensive anyway.

So, DID I in fact misunderstand, or are you perhaps just a bit jaded?

I know typically in TR-land, it's more fashionable to rag on products and manufacturers, but if I'm regarded as a spammer for speaking kindly of a handful of (mostly free) products and a particular online retailer, then I think I can understand why more people don't offer their endorsements.

I was trying to be helpful. It's a topic I'm interested in. Sorry for intruding, I guess.

Was to me. I read it closely. Very closely. I thought it rather well done.

Even though I have little, to no, interest in performing any of the steps you listed, I did not consider it Spam.
I too saw the direct responses to Palmie's questions, that you gave, in addition to the steps.
I am not sure if Palmie flagged it purely on the grounds of it potentially being used for illegal purposes?

You did not claim knowledge of his understanding, publicly animadverting only the putative.

Otherwise, Palmetto, you are being raked. Better you than me.
