I'm Through With This

I give up. I've had it. I surrender. I quit.

Multiple times over multiple days I've tried to post an answer to Q&A's, and it still won't post. I was saving my posts in notepad so I could try and post later but it still doesn't help. I can't post it seems, so...

I hate to give up on a site, so, to those in the know and the PTB's, PLEASE, PLEASE fix this (or tell me what the H E double hockey sticks I'm doing wrong if it is my fault). It has been a great 12 years I've been here on this site, I've had many laughs here and shed too many tears when we lost some of our dear friends (w2ktechman, santee, OlderMycroft, and others I can't remember) and I'd like to continue being part of this community but this is just plain frustrating.

I just tried answering another question and it went through, no problems, no refresh required.

Well if this helps

My Alter Ego Oh Smeg always places a space between the domain name and the .whatever so that the posts are not rejected by the Filters.

With this account it's not supposed to be scanned by the Spam Filters but honestly I've never bothered to post URLs without the space since the last site downgrade. Personally I seem to remember something about the site being developed with the Mac Standard so it should display right in Safari and then maybe work sort of right with FF, Opera, and so on and being really marginal if you use Infernal Exploder ever.

I naturally use IE 8 predominately because most of my customers use it so I'm probably seeing the worst that the site can be.

So for instance if I need to post a link to something I post it as this

http://www.corsair .com/en/usb-drive/flash-voyager-gt.html

and add something like this. Remember to remove the space from between corsair and the .com to get a working link.

That's the only way I've been able to post to questions where I felt a link was needed. Even if you post without the Link and then edit the post to include the link it disappears within a couple of hours. So if you insert a space it solves the current Spam Issues.

I hope that is of some assistance.

URLs when I put them in posts and have posted dozens of posts with URLs in the last few weeks, even a couple of biggies with seven or eight URLs in them and they were all accepted OK, however the most common URL I post is for a page on wikipedia.

I wonder if your ad-block and/or no-script is blocking a login request?

Every once in a while, even when the top of the page shows me logged in,
I get a popup notice to sign in or register to post. I'm currently booted
into Slax, using Opera 10.10 for Linux, I'll see if this goes through. problems this time...

In my experience, if one browser blows chunks over it, another will work it just fine.
They say that having more than one browser on a system is bad security, but I have to wonder how much of that is IDKitis.

I just tried posting to another Q&A and it will not take my post. It definitely is the link that is causing my posts to go to the big bit bucket in the sky. I even posted and edited the post to include the link(both non changed and changed) and it blasted it.

Guess spammers have free reign as I flagged 4 or 5 earlier (pointing to some foreign country URL). but a post to a link on CNet or Microsoft's site is a no go...

I've wondered about those spam posts as well...

don't know how they get around the filters, UNLESS, the only thing I can
see different is most of us old-timers use the leadoff "protocol" for http or
whatever, and many of the spam posted URLs do not, just the 3w thing.

I tried answering some questions today

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to D@mmit

And when I didn't add a space into the full URL the post just disappeared. When I reposted with the space it was accepted.

I must remember to add the space and take a copy before posting but lately the site has been fairly good and not blown any posts out the Airlock till today.

Not sure what the others use when they include links but the full HTTP:// defiantly gets hit on way too many occasions for my liking. Microsoft Links are most defiantly the most likely ones to be deleted though.
