IP Issues

By unctd ·
Anyone seen this one before? I am working on a computer with conflicting IP addresses. The ISP tells me its one thing, but when I do an "ipconfig /all" I get something completely different. We are trying to set a static IP for remote access and are absolutely dumbfounded. Can anyone help????

Well generally you set the Static IP Address in the Router

Then allow the inside of the Network it's own IP Addressing system.

But as you didn't mention the type of connection and the way that you are connecting to the Internet it's very hard to say any more at this point.

Guess you are setting your PC's IP to be the same as your Router / Gateway's IP - hoping that this will allow you access from the Web.

Thus a conflict(?)

To get access from the web you would need a firewall connected to your router then to your PC. PC's default Gateway would be the firewall's IP address.
