Iran, Saddam, & Osama: A Continued Report

By maxwell edison ·
.
"As time goes on, we can expect more and more evidence to be piled up. Indeed today there is enough proof of the allegations of ties between Saddam and Bin Laden, and between Iran and Bin Laden to make any lawyer?s job easy. But the media ignores it, or ridicules it. And so I warn you, don?t be over-optimistic that the media will one day understand the connections and accept the Administration?s allegations. No matter how much evidence piles up regarding these connections, the media?s ignorance will always be the best friend of the state sponsors of terrorism?and an enemy of America?s leadership in the War on Terror."

"......the media?s ignorance will always be the best friend of the state sponsors of terrorism....."

That's a scary thought.

------------------

?Was Saddam Hussein involved in September 11? Was Saddam Hussein involved directly with Al-Qaeda in that? The real issue is, Saddam Hussein was involved in this loosely put together terrorist movement and was a big player in it. And would help them with regard to raising funds and would help them with regard to training assistance... It?s a much more loosely connected group who have a common ideology. Or maybe you could call it a common hatred of America, the modern world and countries that represent that. And then they find ways of cooperating with each other.?

-Rudy Giuliani

------------------

When history shows - and proves - that there were indeed ties between Saddam Hussein's Iraq regime and various terrorist groups, groups that ALSO had ties with Osama bin Laden, how many of today's naysayers will admit that they were wrong and President Bush was right?

Tom Clancy an 8 or a 9 on a scale? Sorry someone that bright needs better plots, characters that change, and better endings. If he is that high what would you rate George Stepenofolous, Al Frankin, and just for giggles Arianna Huffington?

George Al and Arianna

George Stephanopoulos :
He couldn't help but learn some things during his time hanging out with a President, so he's a 3. (Pretending to be a 6, but he thinks he's an 8.)

Al Franken :
He's less than a 1. He's a -1, maybe a -2. He really doesn't have a clue. In fact, he's really just playing the role of one of his old SNL characterizations doing a parody on a political writer who's in love with himself, and has duped a bunch of people into believing he really knows something.

Arianna Huffington :
She's a 2 - acquired, however, merely by osmosis. She really couldn't help it, although her focus was elsewhere.

Who gave the weapons...

by onbliss In reply to Iran, Saddam, & Osama: A ...

A digression from the topic...though I can tie a thin/loose string if I really want to :-))

Watched the movie 'Black Hawk Down' over the weekend... and was so bothered about the weapons the warlords/militia had.
Who sold them those weapons? Russia, Germany, France, China, US...? I think it will be easy to blame one another. As each country must have defaulted and sold these to make money.

I think there are treaties which restrict the sale of such technology/weapons...We got sit and plug the loopholes...

We, the world should find a way to stop the sellers from selling these weapons in the market to such countries and militia. Well the word 'stop' might not be appropriate. As we can neve really stop. Maybe atleast an effort to reduce those weapons.

So sad, when we give them the weapons ourselves...

Too much of YOUR tax money ...

The big mistake, actually thinking they were sincere in their efforts when accepting funding from the USA, which in turn was funding to attack the USA.
A good reason not to give you kid a gun and them **** him off. DUH!

Enslave your girls and women, harbor anti-U.S. terrorists, destroy every vestige of civilization in your homeland, and the Bush administration will embrace you. All that matters is that you line up as an ally in the drug war, the only international cause that this nation still takes seriously.

That's the message sent with the recent gift of $43 million to the Taliban rulers of Afghanistan, the most virulent anti-American violators of human rights in the world today. The gift, announced last Thursday by Secretary of State Colin Powell, in addition to other recent aid, makes the U.S. the main sponsor of the Taliban and rewards that "rogue regime" for declaring that opium growing is against the will of God. So, too, by the Taliban's estimation, are most human activities, but it's the ban on drugs that catches this administration's attention.

Today, not only is Justice Salam back, talking to a foreign reporter for the first time since the Taliban fell a year and a half ago, but he says the Taliban are back as well. Regrouped, rearmed, and well-funded, they are ready to carry on guerrilla war as long as it takes to expel US forces from Afghanistan.

Here is what the Pakistani dictator, General Musharraf (and the ruling Pakistani elite) really think about co-operating with us (The USA) in the War Against Terrorism.
"Some ulema are trying to react on pure emotions. I want to remind them of Islam's early history. The moved from Mecca to Medina (hijrat). Was this (God forbid) cowardice? This was wisdom to save Islam.

Then when the Jews saw that Islam was getting stronger they started to conspire against the muslims. When the Prophet (PBUH) saw this happening he signed a no war pact with his enemies in Mecca. I want to remind you of that pact. At the end of the pact, where his signature was required, the Meccans demanded that he cannot sign it as Prophet Mohammed. The Prophet (PBUH) agreed.

The Prophet explained later that its best for Islam, and it?s the right thing to do. And time proved him right. Six months later there was a war with the Jews and the Meccans did not support the Jews and the Muslim forces won. And some time after that Mecca also fell to Islamic mujahideen."

Translation - We will get what we want from the Americans (money & weapons) and then stab them in the back when it is convinient.

Form what I read into this, YOU'VE funded the Taliban with your tax payers money, I think this is commonly known. You then were attacked by thier regime, costing more taxpayers money as well as other funding to recover from. You then spent MORE taxpayers money in an attempt to rid the Taliban regime. Then MORE taxpayers money to attack Iraq. The Taliban funding, much from the US (more taxpayers money)has given the Taliban the ability to regroup. Eventually, they will attack the USA again and cost even more taxpayers money for rebuilding the destruction left behind.
But then you'll need MORE taxpayers money to atack the Taliban again, and so on, and so on, and so on...

I'd be thinking twice about paying MY taxes anymore. You're all better off welching from the government and collecting welfare, perhaps your government won't have the money to keep on poking the sleeping bear (especially at the rate they are going these days).

We = World....

by onbliss In reply to Too much of YOUR tax mone ...

For the records, I come from one of the cricket playing nations that has been deeply affected by Pakistan :-)). So the 'YOU' in your posting does not really apply to 'MY'...You can save the capitalization for something else. LOL

Well, We = World. If we want to even just survive in this world, we ALL need to cooperate. We are all in in this good/wretched world, let us just help each other.

As I had remarked, it is easy to blame few countries. Let us not do that. The cat is out of the bag. Let us see how to put the cat into the bag and make sure that it does not come out and create havoc.

That was the plan

by Oz_Media In reply to We = World....

I belive the plan was to counter terrorism on a global scale. Bush just decided that he'd do his own thing when it came to Iraq.

Yes, MANY countries have helped fund the Taliban, yet the USA has offered the most support and training as others have helped with weaponry etc. but not on the same scale as the US.

I don't know whereI capitalized YOU but I was referring to America(ns), I am sure.

Al Quaeda in Australia ...

by jardinier In reply to Iran, Saddam, & Osama: A ...

I would assume that Australia contributed to the war in Iraq largely because of a long-standing friendly alliance with the US. Up to an and immediately after 9/11, I can't see that Australia was seen as a target for international terrorism.

However the scenario changed dramatically after the bombing in Bali. The perpetrators quite specifically included Australia as a target because of its alliance with the US and any other countries which might be perceived as "guilty" of sins against Islamic nations.

Shortly after the Bali affair, the Australian Government gave sweeping new powers to the Federal Police and ASIO, allowing unforewarned break-ins of residences of persons with whom there was the slightest supicion of having any association with Al-Quaeda or any other terrorist groups.

What has been surprising to myself, and no doubt most Australians, is the extent to which it has been shown that Al-Quaeda had been establishing nests and links in Australia long before either of the above mentioned attacks occurred.

I would presume that these networks have been established here because of Australia's close geographical association with several nations containing a high proportion of Sunni Muslims: Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. The latter has the highest concentration of Muslims in the world (130 million) and whilst a moderate country, with a female Prime Minister, harbours terrorist Muslims.

Thus Australia is obliged for its own sake to play a very active role in the fight against terrorism in general.

.....how despicable they are.

Australia, an innocent bystander, targeted only for reasons of association. Only the most heinous of all thugs would behave in such a way. It's a good thing we're going after them, don't you think?

Attacking Australia

"Australia, an innocent bystander, targeted only for reasons of association. Only the most heinous of all thugs would behave in such a way. It's a good thing we're going after them, don't you think?"

An innocent bystander, like Canada, that has been targeted for it association with America.
Why?

The closed ended question is kinda cheap though, "don't you think?"

Saddam is really bad, right?
