IRQ Conflict question...

By boxfiddler Moderator ·
PC: Acer Aspire 9300 (notebook)
OS: WinXP (came with Vista)
CPU: AMD 64 bit (not sure which one)
MOBO: Unknown

Have been working to resolve regular BSOD's and come up with the following:

Hardware Resources
Conflict/Sharing
I/O Port 0x00000000-0x00000CF7 PCI bus
I/O Port 0x00000000-0x00000CF7 Direct memory access controller

IRQ7 Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Cardbus Controller
IRQ7 Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller

IRQ 18 NVIDIAnForce 430/410 SerialATA Controller
IRQ 18 Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio

Memory Address 0xA0000-0xBFFFF PCI bus
Memory Address 0xA0000-0xBFFFF NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100

I am pretty certain that IRQ 18 is a problem here, but don't know about IRQ 7. I also don't know about the other entries, but think they are probably related.

What please can be done to resolve these conflicts?

Thank you!

edit: IRQ 18 to MS AAU driver line

Best bet

by The Scummy One In reply to Okee-dokee then.

have him run memtest, **** away pagefile.sys. If these dont work try setting up Win on another HDD. If it still continues, there is likely a problem on the MB, like the hdd controller.

P.S. Pond Scum is gone, sorry, besides, I was often called the scummy one anyway. :)
P.S. Now I can type P.S. without confusion (added bonus) :)
re P.S. I am not really worried about more thumbs. I'll take them, but dont go crazy
and re-P.S. ok, this is getting silly now, I wonder where the limit for P.S. is???

that was a bloody good call "The Scummy One".
PS. I'll get used to the new name. :)

I noticed that...

Your are sharing your graphics card with your sound chip set. Nvidia sometimes does not play nice with the Intel/Realtec HDA drivers.

Before any more reinstalls, maybe you should uninstall and reinstall the video and audio drivers.

I didn't think that looked right...

can't the IRQ's just be manually set somehow? Is there a setting in the BIOS that could be changed?

Edit to add: If uninstall/reinstall of audio and video drivers takes place, is there a particular order that would help? On all installs to this point, video has been installed first.

Chipset Type NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100 :)

by Jacky Howe In reply to I didn't think that looke ...

IRQ 18 NVIDIAnForce 430/410 SerialATA Controller
IRQ 18 Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio

New motherboards share these devices. That is why it is best to set a Hard Drive to Cable Select on a normal PC. And make sure that Plug & Play is turned on in the BIOS. It is best to let XP look after IRQ's.

Whoof, but I'm sick of that particular notebook and had gotten rather imaptient with that client. I've been telling him for months to restore Vista and return it!

Thanks everybody!
