This behavior can occur when you resize the Chat window in MSN while MSN is accessing information over the Internet.

To workaround this issue, you can upgrade to MSN version 2.6 and this problem will not occur. This CD-ROM is currently availableto MSN members free of charge.

One other issue which *may* solve it for you is to uninstall all but ONE of any Browser-Helper objects (Yahoo Companion, Alexa, Gozilla, etc)you may have added to IE. Win98SE made a change which only allows ONE instance of a such objects to be laoded and unloaded without problems. Don't ask me why. These objects are in your "Downloaded Program Files" folder in the Windows directory. Right-click on them to remove, reinstall or repair them.
I have been having this identical GPF ever since I upgraded to Win98SE. I have been all over the MS Knowledgebase and have tried all the suggested fixes. It is a reproduceable error and I have tamed it to a degree. One thing that ALWAYS will generate this error is to "open in a new window" by right clicking a link. When I close the ORIGINAL IE window, the gpf will occur. Try loading Dr. Watson in your Startup folder, or load it before running IE5.0x- If you are experiencing (as I have) an endless-loop of cascading error messages, Dr. Watson will stop this, but sometimes

GO DIRECTLY TO ANSWER 4. I was getting a Page Fault error now and then. So was some of the client machines. I tried the extract and replace of Kernel32.dll through System File Checker. Not until I downloaded and installed IE 5.01 did the errors stop. I've read that a few bugs were fixed with the release of IE 5.01, but now I'm starting to think that all the .01 release was, was a major bug fix.

This sort of problem is very difficult to pinpoint without a great deal of testing. reinstalling IE5 can help. Referring to MS's website (knowledgebase) may help. I've seen this problem caused by everthing from corrupted system files to ATI video drivers. If you chose to reinstall it, uninstall it first.

Hope this helps.
