Promoting VFP

by kevin In reply to Kevin Ragsdale - FoxPro C ...

I've revised the VFP promo videos I posted earlier, correcting some spelling and grammatical errors, and pumping up the volume on the video clip from the movie D.O.A. Plus, I added the Microsoft "disclaimer" to the end of each video.

All of the videos are available for direct download (links are below).

Craig Bailey noted on his blog the other day that he liked the music in the promos, and Craig Boyd noted that by the time he was done watching them he'd felt like he'd heard the VFP Theme Song.

I got the music from a website, STOCK20.COM, which licenses royalty-free music for only $7 per song. The really cool thing about this site is if you create a new account, they will give you a $7 credit toward your first purchase, which means you can create an account and get the music (the song title is "Metallicated") FREE.

I'm picturing dozens of promotional videos created by the community, all using the same "theme song" for VFP (hint, hint).

Why the sudden interest in promoting VFP? Well, like I said the other day, I was trolling through the SPS Weblog, and rediscovered the videos Craig has done. I also ran across Craig's Call for VFP Community Action, which was posted almost a year ago (July 27, 2005), and immediately felt "re-inspired".

Anyway, the revised versions will be available at Google Video once they've been "verified" by Google.

If you do view them at Google Video, do me a favor and rate the videos. Send the link to your co-workers, friends, even your enemies. Let's put VFP on the Google Video Hot 100 List!

If you prefer to download them, you can get them in zipped format at the following links. All three of the videos are in WMV (Windows Media) format.

Download Links:

Visual Fox Pro 9.0 Promo (Revised) - 5.82MB

VFPx Promo (Revised) - 4.22MB

Project D.O.A. (Revised) - 9.45MB

All three (revised) Videos - 19.5MB

(They look really nice on a Media Center TV)

If you want to be especially nice to me, send me an email at kevin@pc-interactive.com, and I'll send you a link to STOCK20 with a "referral" code for me. You get a $7 credit for creating an account, and I get a $7 credit for referring you. I'm not posting the link on the blog for obvious reasons.
