LAN connection problems.

By mike.mclean ·
Hi, I just added a new vista ultimate computer to my network, which is managed by a sonicwall SOHO3.

The sonic wall won`t give me an IP address, and when I look at the packets recieved, it is 0. There are atleast 5 other computers on the network which work fine.

Partially resolved.

I think it may be a problem with my switch:
If I connect directly into the switch, everything works fine.
If I connect through one of the wall hook-ups, I get no connection.

Again, the old computer worked fine through the same hookup, and I've tried several wall hook-ups with the same problem.

Is it a crappy switch that is the problem (not sending good signal), or is it a crappy network adapter on my computer?

the NIC, also on-board or PCI.

Have you used a different cable when checking other connections?
