Lenovo t60 problems with network

By valdoltra ·
Hey guys!
I have a serious problem with my CEO's T60. I can't connect to any computer in my network via My Network Places also all mapped drievs dissappear. All computers use WinXP SP2. I can ping them succesfully but only if I ping IP; if I ping computer name I get "cannot find hostname blahblah". Any ideas?

Regards,
Vlado

DNS

by Toivo Talikka In reply to Lenovo t60 problems with ...

It sounds as if the DNS is not working. Check the setting in the Properties of Local Area Connection - TCP/IP - Properties - Use the following DNS server addresses.

Check the setting from another computer that works. After you fixed it, go to the command prompt and type in nslookup. At the > prompt, type in a domain name and press Enter. It should now find the IP address. Type in Ctrl-C to finish.

Not DNS

by valdoltra In reply to DNS

I thought it could be DNS but it was actualy node type that was improper (don't ask why). Deleted registry key and node type changed from peer-peer to unknown... it works fine now. The answer is here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903267

Thanks anyway
