If you are directly connected to the modem unplug the modem and allow it to reset itself for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in.

If you are connecting to the Net through a Hub/Switch unplug that and do the same thing that should cure your problem.

I also ran into the same problem. I thought it was just one of my computers. It appeared that all my computers that were on my wireless network had an issue with this. That made it easy for me to isolate the problem. My issue was with the wireless router. It appears that the configuration file had become corrupt. I had special settings in my configuration but it was ok because I saved a backup configuration. I reset my router to the factory settings and that worked for me. This may not be the same issue that some of you are having but it was in my case. If you are having wireless connectivity issues try resetting your router to factory settings. Warning!!! you will have to reconfigure your router. So if you did not set up your router and had someone set it up for you then contact that person before you proceed.

when you are at the place with no internet access, go to a command prompt and use ipconfig to help see what the problem is:
      Start/run cmd
      ipconfig /all

(you don’t have to do the step with the /all switch but you might find it interesting)
note what ip address is appearing on the lan card
      then fix it thusly:
      ipconfig /release

      ipconfig /renew

do another ipconfig /all and see if stuff changed.
if no joy see if you can ping the gateway (your cable modem)

I had the same problem and used this download to fix it. Go to http://www.snapfiles.com/winsockxpfix.html

      Hope this helps.
