Serial ATA install

by open.suse In reply to linux installation

The install of most distros should include an SATA kernel. Two that would be the best use would be openSUSE and Vector Linux. Slackware is the base system with Vector Linux, however Slackware 12 is a very technical install, while openSUSE and Vector Linux are GUI installs.

The install shouldn't be any different with a SATA drive than with an ATA with UDMA. If the bus speed is found to be incorrect, add idebus=XXXX where XXXX is your bus speed to the kernel options during booting.

Have a lot of fun!
