Linux-Windows 2000

By montyo ·
I am running Windows 2000 advanced server using internet sharing. I have a cable modem coming in to my windows 2000 system with 2 network cards. All of my other systems receive their IP via DHCP including my Linux-mandrake system.
Question- How do I configure my network so that I can share files with my Linux, windows network? Is Samba the answer?

depending on your network, if security is not an issue..(not conected to the internet or have a good firewall). Why not just create a virtual directory in ftp? then any ftp client can access it. you can use which ever means of security you like under iis to control who can connect nd what they can do (read /read write/change). this is a lot easier than dealing with samba and has the same end result.

Yes, without a doubt, SAMBA is the answer. We have done something similar for a customer.

Good luck
