Looking for a job in web development

By srikantg ·
I am from India and 44 years of age and have been looking for a job of web developer. The problem I am facing is of lack of relevant experience. And the employers/recruiters are looking for people with experience.

Although I have the basic exposure/familiarity, I am unable to get a job. I would like to know how else would I (as a fresher in current scenario) get a job in web development. Does not the basic knowledge, interest in the field have any value ?

I am also looking for overseas opportunities. Is it possible to get overseas opportunities as a fresher in new technologies ? If yes, then how ?

Any help is appreciated.

Its a tough market indeed. Try to develop some pages and put them online to demonstrate your knowledge. Do some volunteer work for a community project and use that in your portfolio. Also, employers really want to see your work, so, rather than state "im a fast learner", etc, provide clear and concise examples of instances when/where you had to learn a new technology and implemented it. Something along those lines. Try freelance work(on the side) and try to gain experience there even if initially you are not full time employee. Definitely get some sites up for employers to see and stay ontop of emerging technologies. Dont limit yourself to just web, work into networking and other avenues of development so you can provide several skills to your employer. Best of luck.

Its great to hear about your experience and qualification. Here is a job site where I found a good job after my computing degree.
