Is anyone out there who knows anything about "line replaceament units (LRUs)"?

LRU is called that as opposed to a SRU, or shop replaceable unit. They are used in Military satellite communications systems, most specifically, the Digital Communications Satellite Subsystem (DCSS). You can learn more from Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) circulars. there is some information at http://www-edi.itsi.disa.mil/
