    MacBook 2.4GHz Black

    Locked

    by bldsm ·

My boss has suggested swapping my HP high spec laptop for a MacBook 2.4GHz so i can have less issue with Windows updates. I use the entire Adobe Master Collection CS3 of programs including video editing – premier pro, after effects, soundbooth, encore. Indesign, photoshop, dreamweaver, fireworks, illustrator and Bridge CS3.

I haven’t used a mac for many years so have some questions which I need answers for please.

    1. Will all my windows software (such as abobe products above) and Microsoft Office 2007, various other windows software ALL WORK ON this Macbook?

    2. Will I be able to plug my 3 300GB external hard drives into this macbook without reformatting the drives?

    3. I currently have 12 USB devices plugged into my HP laptop. Will the MacBook be able to take all these devices, cameras, 2 dvd RW external drives, 3 external hard drives, scanner, printer, dig camera, wireless keyboard and mouse etc?

    4. I have a 55cm wide screen monitor which plugs into my HP laptop. It has RGB and DVI. Will it work with the Macbook?

    5. I have heard the MacBook can run Windows OS and its own OS. I see it comes with Mac OSx10. Will this OS run windows applications or do I have to get Windows loaded as a dual operating system?

    Many thanks.
    Bruce

So your Windows Software will not work on OSX natively. You can load a Virtual Machine and run Windows on it but that defeats the purpose of going to the Mac in the first place.

You can buy new software and use that without any problems as companies like Adobe support the Mac Format though M$ doesn’t but the Mac’s come preloaded with a Office Application that can be used instead of M$ Office.

As for if your existing Hardware works on the MAC you’ll have to look it up for yourself look at the Makers Web Sites and see if they offer OSX Drivers & Software for the devices that you have. On the other hand the External HDD’s should work without an issue but again that depends on how they where formatted as NTFS has a few issues with Cross Platform Compatibility.

That was the reason I fancied a look at his present spec.

Or maybe the High Spec HP

May just about have enough RAM to nearly run Windows sort of properly. 😀

While I’m no big Mac lover the Mac Books do tend to have decent Graphic Capabilities and is probably why they are so good at Graphic Work and Video Editing.

Sorry but I just can’t see any Off the Shelf HP comparing to a I Mac the Mac’s are way above the specifications of all PC’s unless something really special is made up and defiantly not anything from the Big Makers who sell on Price rather than Quality.
