Make a Menu for PXE linux

By geekmicrochip ·
NOTE: This article is for those who have familiarity with PXE Linux.
Many of the IT Professionals use PXE to reduce cost and time in their envrionment. PXE linux is one the best solutions which is free, and easy to configure.
It is important and perhaps good to know that how we can make a PXE menu. So, we can have multiple options to boot from Network "different boot disk". here I am going to show you how to create and customize your own PXE menu.

1. Make sure that you are using a PXELINUX.
2. On your pxe directory "whatever you called it when you created it, I called it PXETFTP" go to pxelinux.cfg directory.
3. As you know under the pxelinux.cfg directory there is a file called "default" which is your main boot file that linux ask for booting process.
4. change the extention of the default to default.txt and write the followings.

MENU TITLE your title here
TIMEOUT your time out here "it should be in millisecond 150 = 15 second"

LABEL your label goes here
MENU LABEL your menu label goes here "IE: WIN98SE"
APPEND INITRD=win98.imz "NOTE = you have to create a image of your win98 bootdisk and place it in your PXE directory

follow the steps again with different labels, menu labels, and boot image name. then you will have your very own PXE MENU.
