Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Seasons Greetings
Lockedby jdclyde · about 18 years, 3 months ago
To everyone in TR land, regardless of your religious/secular beliefs, I would like to wish you a safe and happy time with your friends and family.
For me, it will be a Very Merry Christmas, and for those of you that partake, I hope it is for you as well.
For the other holidays out there, Take this as a translation that it will be everything you want it to be.
For the people that just look at this as a few days off work with pay, here is a tip. If you go to the Christmas parties ANYWAYS you get a lot of good food, good booze, and good company. That is worth tolerating a few more hours of Christmas music, isn’t it?
May all be well. Be back next Tuesday!
Merry Christmas
jeff

Hard to believe my first project was to re-write our legacy system so it would keep working after 2K. 600+ programs using 700+ data files. A year of nothing but pouring over code. I don’t miss it at all.
Merry Christmas!

I’ll be going down to the in-laws tomorrow in Mississippi (in case you’re not aware that is actually a third world country) for Christmas and won’t have access to the Internet for about 3 days. Ya’ll pray for me to make it through. 🙂
Also, I’m taking off all next week. I told them if I don’t get next week off someone is gonna get hurt.

Actually, all of a sudden earlier today I felt like I was getting us too far away from the spirit of this thread and decided to keep quite for awhile.
It really humbles me to see so many people from so many different places and who most of us don’t know each other wish blessings and good wishes to each other.
I am definitely beginning to really appreciate the people in this forum. Again, Merry Christmas to all and may God bless each one of us!

I guess this is the wrong discussion to goof around too much and take too many liberties with crazy-mindedness. When you get right down to it, all people have a lot of similarities and this particular discussion, with so many Christmas well-wishers among people who don’t even know each other except for a username and typed words, is an example. Even after a year full of flaming and fighting and fanatical debates. I once read a little story of something that happened on Christmas Eve in 1944 during the height of World War II’s Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. At the stroke of midnight, the guns and the artillery became eerily silent. A small group of American soldiers on the front line started singing “Silent Night” from their foxholes. Moments later, German soldiers, a mere hundred yards away in their own frozen foxholes, joined in, singing the song in their own language. Minutes after the singing stopped, the guns and the shelling resumed once again. For a brief moment, there was peace on the front line. Just because of Christmas.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas, a relaxing holiday and good luck in the new year! Let there be peace on Earth.

I see myself being on line very little after tomorrow and only because I have a few personal things that I am wrapping up.
Don’t go back to work until tuesday and then got thursday through the following tuesday off again. I like to go back for the two days like that because it helps me to enjoy my time off that much more because I get reminded how I could be spending the time otherwise.

I’m off to visit my old Ma, tomorrow morning (81). “Don’t you bring that computer with you! You’re coming up to visit. You can damned well sit and talk to me!” Last Christmas I took the laptop up and she got her grandson to remove the battery and didn’t give it me back until we were leaving!
I’ll be back on Wednesday but no work ’til the New Year. Woohoo!
OK, Jeff. I give up. Happy Christmas, too – secular, High Church Anglican, Catholic, Presbyterian, whatever rocks your stained-glass window.

Things are getting a little tense at casa Mambo as the conflict between the forces of cheeriness and the power of grumpiness comes to a head. Fortunately, like a dominant gene, grumpiness has the power to overwhelm the cheerful ones.
Three days from now, it will all be a blurry memory and I’ll be in peace for another 11 months.

Christmas is a very special time to enjoy with your family and friends. Its not about the gifts that you buy, but the gifts of good friendship, well wishes and caring (and lots of good food!).
I like some of that old Christmas music. It reminds me of when I was a kid. Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Elvis; its just timeless music.
Merry Christmas, Jeff. Hope you have a good one.

We used to start at the top of the hill and roll the ball down the hill until we got to our yard.
Being somewhat little at the time (about 4′ tall in 5′ of snow)we would use 2X4’s to lever the ball when it got too big, and finally dad would push it the rest of the way with his pickup.
Needless to say, a MONSTER snowman was the end result. You sure can make ’em big when the snow’s that deep!
All the best, glad to hear you’re happy and busy being a cute elf. I guess you must rush back to the workshop and finish the toys up, I have to go and put cookies out and wait for Santa to climb ot of my baseboard heater.

Merry Christmas to all!
May the light of Christ lead us all into the peace and the joys of his kingdom now and forever.
And may God bless you all in the new year 2006!

…it back from the third world country of Mississippi and back to civilization.:) Actually, we had a great time with family and a wonderful Christmas, even without the Internet :). I hope everyone else has also.
Now, on to New Year’s! May we all have a safe and prosperous New Years!

I am glad to catch up on a couple of the discussions. Actually, I was just kidding about Internet withdrawal. It’s actually nice to get away from all of it for a few days.
I’m off this week and will be really busy with lots of family stuff which will be fun. Glad you had a good Christmas morning. I am waiting to see the response from “Grandma” on the other post.:)

that is a shame. Find a good New Years Eve party and let that make it up to you?
Mine went well. Had a lot of fun with the boys. Just ended way too soon, when their female parental unit picked them up 10am Christmas morning. That was when my christmas ended.
Tree is coming down tonight, as it just reminds me that the boys are gone.

New Years Eve

In reply to Well
I don’t go out to parties that much. They are often cliquish and, being a responsible person of some considerable size, I usually end up having to become bouncer/security and break up stupid fights, and holding up girls’ faces out of toilets so they don’t drown.
I’ll stay home and pay for my own booze and not have to worry about the inconsiderate and functionally incompetent partiers.
Hope you find some fun. If not, go to a phone booth and start making random local calls and when a girl answers say “I love you, man.” over and over…
It’s pointless, but can be fun as hell to hear how people react.
Oh yeah…and at midnight if you’re alone…do what I do sometimes.
Call the phone company operator…and wish him or her a Happy New Year.
