Microsoft Storage Server on HP DL320S, Paradox Database

By shadylemur ·

I am looking to purchase a HP DL320S with Microsoft Storage server 2003. As well as use for a general fileserver this will hold the database tables for a paradox/delphi application with about 30 users.

Although the database files are held on a server, the processing is all done clientside. I have been told that to run a database from NAS I must have MS iSCSI target, and that the HP DL320s would not be up to the job. As the files for the database are just stored on the server and it performs no processing, I thought a dedicated NAS would actually give better performance as it is only acting as a file server?

Does anyone have any experience in running a similar setup? Any info would be appreciated!
