Modem

By mdugal ·
We have a person performing transcriptions from home modem to modem. Her modem is a Diamond Supra 56k INTERNAL modem. After 30 minutes of inactivity her modem disconnects. We want it to remain connected as she is working offline. It does not have anything to do with the modem properties because we checked all that. I read somewhere that internal modems have a Auto-off feature. Does anyone know how to disable this and if it involves putting in an initial AT command string what would that be? Thanks.

Also, if she has Outlook Express 5 and she has her Internet Options set to "Always Dial a connection", OE5 will disconnect her and reconnect her.

This assumes of course that she has her OE5 Identity set to check mail avery 30 minutes.

First thing to check :
-in the modem and DUN settings, look for Timeout values and reajust
Other things to do:
-most ppl have an email client, have that person start it and make it check every 5-10-15 mins
-download a "keep-alive connection" program, i would suggest www.tucows.com for sharewares.
