Mothers Day, How will you spend it?

By jdclyde ·
Remember people, Mom is the reason you are here right now.

How will you say thanks to that special person?
A card from Hallmark?
A phone call from where ever you are?

I have a card and a 9 am Tee time. Will be taking Mom out for 18 to start the day off right. (with cart of course) Going to have pick up a single rose too (can't carry a dozen around on the golf course!).

My boys will be with their female perental unit, and I have already taken them out to get her a card that they will give her first thing in the morning.

What will you be doing?

okay. roses.

by ITgirli In reply to Roses - Pink, white, or r ...

usually, red=love, pink=affection, yellow=friendship, white=wedding/engagement. I think.
But anyway the office flower of mother's day is the carnation, not the rose, though most women prefer roses.
always a good bet is a birthstone something, or a ring or necklace with birthstones of children or grnadchildren. If you have any questions about the proper birthstone or birth flower for any month, let me know and I will be happy to assist.

did i miss the meeting?

by jdclyde In reply to birthstones/birthflowers ...

There is a month flower. How did I miss out on that for almost 40 year? Talk about oblivious!

Who comes up with this stuff?

Why do they come up with this stuff?

Just another thing for guys to get in trouble over not knowing?

Do they only tell girls this stuff and swear them to secretcy?

girls are born knowing this

by ITgirli In reply to birthstones/birthflowers ...

not really, but i think since it matters to them, they make a point of knowing. I know it only because of my thirst for knowledge. One summer in high school I sat at my computer and wrote a paper on the months and their meanings, their names, stones, flowers, herbs, stars, zodiac, etc. It wasn't more than about 20 pages, but thanks to the power of the internet, I kept myself pretty busy that summer. I did several research papers.(I'm fair skinned and don't do well in sunlight. I have the computer person's tan. you know, the only light you see is from a monitor.)

Green hue?

by jdclyde In reply to birthstones/birthflowers ...

or is it more natural from a newer monitor?

Got to love color monitors, they do tan MUCH better and more evenly than the old monocroms did, though they don't keep you as warm?

Being born on Christmas I always knew my birthstone was turquoise, which I hate, I think it is probably the ugliest stone. Now seeing that narcissus is my flower makes me laugh. Such an ego named flower matches my ego, how typical. Man that's funny. AS I look at all the other flower names, they are all humbly named, mine? Dam I'm pretty and its not all that good looking of a flower.

I will be watching sports while mother cleans my house. Just kidding. I will be with the family eating a rediculous amount of food, listening to the same outrageous stories of my myself and the siblings.

My mom gives me grief on spending too much, so its been tradition to get her the same perfume that I have been giving her for years. I always get an offhanded remark, if I get her something else, its a complaint that I didnt get her the perfume. either way mom lets me know who's in charge and various expectations, its ok.

I take it that you are divorced decribing your son's mother as parental unit , not wife? Just curious if you are divorced in general do you still give a gift to the ex? What's the ediqutte? I guess some would joke the alimony payment on time.
