Moving existing NDS to new server

By bstansfield ·
I have an existing Netware 5 server (on an old HP server)I want to migrate all data and NDS to a new compaq server.I want to keep the name of the server and all properties of existing server the same and stay in same tree. Basically just want to change hardware and keep all nds in tact. Any suggestions on the best way to do this?

Using DSMAINT.NLM as outlined in TID#10027322

Basically the procedure is as follows:

1. Backup NDS using DSMAINT. Copy DS backup file to Workstation.

2. Backup File system making sure you backup trustee assigments.

3. Install Netware on the new server with the old server name into a different tree.

4. Log into the server and copy the DS backup file to the server from the workstation.

5. Remove NDS from server.

6. Use DSMAINT to restore DS fron the Backup File

7. Restore File system from Tape.
