What operating system are they running on? If it’s XP, you can use the Transfer my settings wizard and only select to move your outlook express.
Let me know.

These are two separate systems, old ix Win 2000PRo and the new is XP-Pro. I suppose i need to execute something like (1)backup on old and (2)restore on new, or export/import?

Actually, you can use the XP CD in the 2K machine and run the Transfer wizard from there. It will give you the option to put it in a network location. Then on the XP machine, run the wizard and import that file that was created. I just did this a few days ago and it works great. Just make sure you are logged on as the user at both places.
Let me know.

If you could, just add a comment instead of just rejecting the answer. That puts a negative on my account, which I wasn’t done helping yet.

There are three components you may want to save from OE and then transfer to a new computer.
1. Account settings,
2. Messages, and
3. AddressbookThis is what I do.
Create a folder (OEBackup, for example, on Desktop)
Open the current OE.
Navigate to Tools | Accounts and export each mail account to OEBackup (This will save the account info)
Navigate to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder and copy the location and paste it to OEBackup (This will save messages).
Navigate to File | Export | Address Book and choose Text File | Export and give a file name and store in OEBackup folder (This will save the Address Book). Now transfer the OEBackup folder to the new computer.
Open OE.
Navigate to Tools | Accounts and import all mail accounts from OEBackup.
Navigate to File | Import | Messages and choose the right version (the one from your old computer OE). Choose Import mail from an OE store directory. The location should be OEBackup.
Navigate to File | Import | Other Address Book | Text File | Import and choose the file name of the Address Book in OEBackup. There is a MS KB article on this. I will post it when I find it.

To save messages, you need to copy all the files from the Store Folder location. To do this, Start | Run and paste the location in the Open box. Copy all the files (CTRL+A to select all) and paste in OEBackup.

What I do, is to burn the user account folders and address book files onto a CD.
I then import the mail into OE on the new system.
OE stores the mail in .dbx files.
There will be one DBX file for each folder in OE, plus 1 more file. There will be a separate folder for each OE user.
The actual location of the folder depends on the version of Windows.
For W98, the location of the folder is:
C:\Windows\Application Data\Identities\{a string}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
For XP and W2K, the folder is part in with the users My Documents folder.
Once you have the files on the new PC, open OE, Click on file, Import
Browse to the folder with the backup mail and complete the import. There is also a program, OE Backup that can help.
