need help making RealPlayer work again

By JADavis9 ·
Not sure what I did, but I seem to have messed up RealPlayer and it will no longer play .mov movies shot on my camera and downloaded to my pc. It will play the samples found on the RealPlayer site. Maybe it is a firewall thing. I use Microsoft Security Essentials on this home WindowsXP tablet. I am new to this technology and could really use some help, please.

Do you expect anyone to follow advice delivered so hostilely?

by CharlieSpencer In reply to I see

If you don't want to provide a useful, practical answer, at least deliver your recommendations in a tone that might actually encourage people to follow them instead of dreading your every post. This isn't the Discussion forum; you're not helping. Had I run into responses phrased like yours when I first got here, I'd have written this site off as just another one full of flamers and newbie-haters.

the problem went away when you reinstalled Quicktime. This points to the codec issue seanferd mentioned.

If you are planning on doing a lot of media work, you may wish to download and install the K-Lite Codec Pack. This package contains the standard codecs required to reproduce the most common audio and video formats.
