Network Operations Centers

By rpennell ·
I'm in the process of testing different monitoring tools that I can use to setup a NOC for my company. Can anyone tell me what they use to monitor routers/switches/servers on their networks?

I need to monitor about 50 routers/switches and roughly 100 servers.

Monitoring Software

Mr. Wiz

If you don't mind me asking what hardware and monitors are you using? My management wants to use 2 50" LCD Monitors with quad screen displays on each. I know that some folks just use the normal 21" monitors, but, they want to have large displays so you can see at a glance.

I have started using this in our enterprise for about two months, albeit a much smaller enterprise, and it has worked beautifully. Can support SMS messages when critical notifications are needed.

Can handle everything down to windows services managing everything from back-up to exchange services.

Price isn't too bad, especially when you are talking about monitoring 150 items.

Can anyone share any best practices guides that would help in setting a NOC? Greatly appreciated.
