Network Server Hardware Configuration

By mike.peck ·
I am presently running a Novell Netware 3.20 network with a nearly new server (500 mhz with 256k RAM) and 50 Windows 95/98/ NT workstations. The workstation range from Pentium 100s to PIII 600.
It has become necessary for me to change my network operating system to Windows NT Server 4.0. I have some training but very little experience with NT Server. I have the following hardware available and would like opinions on the best server configuration.
1. Gateway PIII 500 mhz 128mb RAM 10 MB IDEhard drive
2. Gateway PIII 400 mhz 128mb RAM 10 MB IDE hard drive
3. Gateway ALR 8200 Server 256 mb RAM 2 8MD SCSI hard drives
My initial thought was to have a PDC (500mhz), BDC (400 mhz) and a server for file storage (present NW server) Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Get 2 8200 server with raid cages (raid 5) 512mb ram, 3 9gb scsi hard drives, and make 1 pdc and the other bdc. I'm running 2 8200 servers with 512mb ram, 6 9gb scsi drives, with raid cages in both. And if the 8200 are to pricey get the 7200. They are graet servers also
