Through a VPN Virtual Private Network

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to Networking

Though there are a few things to think about first.

The most important thing to consider is that you need at the very least the same security on your Home Computer as on your companies network to prevent your home computer causing a breach in security.

Before you setup a VPN you need to make sure that your home computer is clean and free of infection so you need to run both AV and Spy Ware products over the system and better still the spy ware needs to be run in Safe Mode to prevent anything slipping by.

Once you are sure that you have a clean home system that no one else has access to you can then set about installing the VPN which will depend on what software you are using at both ends so if you are using some form of Windows you'll need to look up the Help Files on the machines and server if there is one involved or the M$ Knowledge Base Articles on VPN for your version of Windows.

If you are using an unsupported Windows Version like 98 at home you'll need some third party Security software to harden the system even further as any new holes found in that version of 98 are no longer being plugged.
