New Calif. Law on Security (Continued)

By DC Guy ·
We ran out of space on the original thread with a couple of points still under hot debate. Anyone familiar with my posts knows I am a libertarian. So of course I do not recommend government as a solution to any problem smaller in scope than a Borg invasion. My point simply is that if corporations continue to adopt a smug, imperious, customer-be-hanged attitude, America as an organism will ultimately vanquish these bacteria. "Man can break anything Man can build?" Sure, I can live with the reality that an Osama-funded terrorist or a Mafia-funded criminal can hack into my data. But I know enough about software projects to be confident that I do NOT have to live with the constant fear of my data being lost, corrupted, or accidentally delivered to the wrong hands, simply because a software vendor chooses to ignore every principle of QA and project management in order to maximize profits. If the only way to replace this Soviet-quality software with software that I would have been proud to deliver in my programming days is to bring down an Empire, so be it. And if the first entity that finds a way to bring it down is a mere STATE government, then it wasn?t a very strong empire after all. Perhaps it thought the law about the customer always being right had been repealed.
