No Green, Only Red and Blue??

By 412Know,1 Must Seek ·
Ok, I've got this p4 mobo (PC chips)and an Intel 1.5ghz CPU. I bought the machine as is at the time. I got around to checking it out, afer discovering the FDD cable was reversed, it seemed fine. I tested all the components and ran HD and RAM checkers...no problems. I go to close the machine and stand it up, The Green goes out and I have tried several known good Video cards I have on all available slots (all 2 of them)there is no AGP slot, just a small Video jack that plugs into a rectangular pin socket on the mobo. I know I had this problem with anoher mobo, but can't remember how I fixed it. Oh, and there is no setting in the bios to disable the on-board video, that I can see. Any suggestions? And while Im on that subject, I had a few that won't show video at all. How would I know if it is a bad mobo or a bad cpu without being able to swap them out? I use all known tested and working Video cards both pci and agp. Thanks!

This sounds all too familiar. I have removed all boards cables and chips and then after removing the mother board there it was a jammed-up screw stuck btwn post and board that the original builder of the system left there or rolled from some place else. You get the hint. Good luck!!

Close.. but no cigar. But i will DEFINATELY check that out in the future. It was a bad monitor cable.

Greetings all... THANKS for the info. I know it has been a while since I've asked this and I did reslove it last week or so.. The trouble then was I could not get into my lycos email account for whatever reason. Kept saying session expired.. so anyway, I was not able to access this account or see that I had more answers waiting and I both appoligize and thank you for the responses. It looks like answer #2 was the winner with a bad monitor CABLE with a shorting pin (It was intermitant, thats why worked on its side.. didn't upright)Thank god the monitor a removable cable, sure would be a waste to have to toss a monitor just for the cable. I have a pretty hefty selection of 19in monitors that are all killer. Strange enough, I didn't buy 1 of them. Everyone that has bought a LCD out here just tosses the old one out in the street. I have found about 15 working systems in the last 6 months and several more that were just parts. Anyway...once again.. thanks! Oh... and that machine ROCK'S now!. It's pretty fast.. at least by my standards.
