not detect hd

By syaza61 ·
i want to add new hd in my computer.i've already install win98 into that hd (using another pc).when i try it into my pc,it won't detect the hd.(when i enter to cmos,it hang(got to restart again)).
it's say pri master hd errors, press f1 to resume.then i follow the instruction, and it's ask me to insert the boot disk.
then the screen shows "windows 98 has detect that drive c does not contain a valid FAT or FAT32. There are several posible causes.".....
But when i try it with another pc,there's no problem. My motherbrd is celeron 300mhz.
Can anybody tell me why and how to solve my problem.

If you installed in another machine and this drive was a slave, or 2nd drive-- you need to check your jumper settings. If it is set to slave when you try to start the machine will not find the active partition because it will be looking for the master. Also installing 98 somewhere else has set all drivers and settings custom to the pc you installed 98 on. Once you get on this drive Go directly to DOS Mode and reinstall- resetup windows on this machine. You will need the same OEM Registration number you used for the first setup to continue the second.
