NT 4.0 Server/Win98 dual boot...Strange?

By smittyrt ·
First of all, thanks for reading this over asked question. I feel I must be overlooking something since I have done this many times successfully in the past. I need to get NT Server 4.0 running on my home machine (studying for 70-06. Here are the specs of that machine:
AMD 700 Duron, 256MB Ram, 30 GB IBM Deskstar drive, WD Caviar 1.5 GB, Geforce2MX video.

I have Win98 on a 4GB FAT32 partition on the 30GB drive. (To get under the 8GB limit of NT SP1). There is a small 600MB FAT partition on this drive so that NT will install. The other drive is formatted FAT. The install program runs and when I reboot the system for the first time during the install...the system hangs at "verifying DMI setup". I have let the system sit for at least 30 min. and still no luck. To get Win98 back I use fdisk to set the active partition back the way it was. Everything seems to be installing (I can see all the drives in Win9 but for some reason NT is not wanting to boot off the 600mb FAT partition. It's under the 8GB limit and the 1024 cylinder....?? I'm definitely bewildered here. Any suggestions? If you need more info...don't hesitate to ask.
