By tanyay ·
I tried to install Oracle 9i client 9i on a Windows XP Professional. Oracle stopped installing at 20%. Now none of the Windows Services will start. I am getting an error of 1068 when I try to start all services. I can get on the internet but the icon is missing in the toolbar and also under network connections. The recycle bin is corrupted and alsocannot do a restore point

Give the version of which copy of Oracle you where trying to install.

But as the install failed at 20% and now very little is actually working I would hazard a guess that the OS has been trashed by the failed install.

As the system is still kind of working save all the current data to some external Media and then wipe the HDD with the OS on it with something like Boot & Nuke available for download here

Then perform a new clean install of the entire OS & Software WithoutOracle this time.

Just a note of caution here before you log onto M$ Update Site make sure that you have a working and Updated AV Product installed as you can pick up viruses from the Live Update Web Site.
